While today's technology doesn't allow for battery-powered long-range airliners, plenty of companies are working on short- and medium-range electric aircraft. The global market for electric aircraft is estimated to have reached $7.9 billion in 2021, according to market research company MarketsandMarkets. It's projected to reach $27.7 billion by 2030, and building the batteries to power those aircraft could be a billion-dollar market by 2030. Jim Beam plans to ramp up bourbon production at its largest Kentucky distillery to meet growing global demand in a more than $400 million expansion to be powered by renewable energy. The project will increase capacity by 50% at the Beam plant in Boston, Kentucky, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by the same percentage, Beam Suntory said Wednesday. Beam also is “fully leveraging” its capacity at its distillery in Clermont, Kentucky, where it produces Jim Beam, Basil Hayden, Knob Creek and Legent brands. Beam Suntory, a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings Limited of Japan, isn’t the first maker of bourbon to go green. Kentucky is home to 95% of the world’s bourbon production, the association said.

Militarii au fost împuşcaţi de un bărbat de 48 de ani după ce au venit în ajutorul unei femei care se refugiase pe acoperişul unei case, în apropiere de satul Saint-Just din regiunea Clermont-Ferrand.La puţin timp după miezul nopţii, doi dintre jandarmi au fost vizaţi de tiruri cu armă de foc când au încercat să se apropie de casa unde se refugiase femeia ameninţată. Unul dintre ei a murit în urma rănilor suferite, iar al doilea, rănit la picior, a fost transportat la spital de pompieri.Ulterior, bărbatul şi-a incendiat casa şi a tras din nou asupra jandarmilor prezenţi la faţa locului, făcând încă două victime în rândul militarilor, a confirmat pentru AFP parchetul din Clermont-Ferrand. Femeia se află în prezent în siguranţă, a precizat parchetul.O sursă apropiată de anchetă a menţionat pentru France Presse că la faţa locului se află cel puţin şapte membri ai forţelor speciale din GIGN (unitatea de elită a jandarmeriei naţionale) şi că se intervine "cu cea mai mare precauţie având în vedere periculozitatea individului".Autorul tirurilor ar fi cunoscut pentru probleme legate de custodia minorilor.
